HAPPY JUNETEENTH everyone! I’m so pleased that this was signed into law as a National Holiday! And today has been a good day for me to think about things like my privilege, my own growth and awareness, and my allyship. A year ago I learned about Juneteenth for the first time and felt embarrassed that I didn’t already know what it was, but happy to be learning and growing. Someone asked me the other day, “what is Juneteenth?” which made me realize that there is still not enough awareness. So for anyone who doesn’t know about this, in very simple terms, Juneteenth is the day that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States, which happened on June 19th 1865. I suggest you do some of your own research and educated yourself further, but I wanted to take a moment on my page to help anyone out who needs to know! There’s a link in my bio with more information about it. Also last year I designed a Black Lives Matter print, and we were able to raise some money for BLM, so I’ve re-released the print, and it’s now available on my store and will donate 50% of the proceeds to BLM! Link in bio if you’d like one. Hope you all are well. Happy Juneteenth!
