I was raised in a strict religious environment / culture where certain expressive words in the English language were not welcomed. In fact, using them would potentially stir up trouble, provoke raised eyebrows, or even cause offense. Some say that using curse words shows a lack of education, others find it to be crude or tasteless. Some people do it constantly! But at the end of the day, what would the English language be without the words needed to shout in pain when you drop the hood of the car on your hands, or to cry out when you drop your phone in the toilet.
