People often ask artists about inspiration. And artists commonly think that the concept of inspiration is hocus pocus... as Chuck Close said, “Inspiration is for amateurs, the rest of us just show up and get to work!” 😎 So how is it that this is possible? Well im going to share a secret... it’s called Filling the Well. The way it works, is you constantly look at everything in front of you, doesn’t matter if its a magazine, and art museum, or just whatever is in your view on your morning commute. And as you soak in everything you see, it gets stuck in your subconscious in its own colorful and inventive way. The things you observe begin to fill up this “well” and when it comes time to create- you have an endless supply of fragmented visual memories just at your beckoning call, ready to be employed in by your creativity!! ——- Soooo.... what actually is the secret, you say? The secret is... put down your phone and look around you! Soak up the things you see in front of you, FILL YOUR WELL with anything and everything in your line of sight and let those things trigger your imagination. And before you know it- you’ll find yourself TRULY seeing in full color!!! πŸ˜ŽπŸ’šπŸ’–πŸ’šπŸ’–πŸ–€ Art by Jason Naylor
