No. 3/31 of OPEN MIND, OPEN ART ❤️🔥 About 2 months ago there was a call for submissions to a Mural project in Salt Lake City, and the grant amount was $15,000. So to apply you had to find a property owner who was interested in having a mural painted on their building. (which is already a huge challenge). And then, you had to submit your idea to the city of Salt Lake on a USB drive, sent to the City/County building… · So I found a building that was down for a mural, and got my sketch ready and filled out all the paperwork and copied it onto a USB drive, double checked to make sure it all copied properly, and overnighted it to Salt Lake. Then I just never heard back. A month passed. Nothing. · After 6 weeks I send an email inquiring about it. Crickets. And then finally, today, I sent another, more assertive email asking WTF, and got a response saying that my USB drive didn’t work so they disqualified my application, and the grant money had all been given to other artists… meanwhile, they saw no need to email me and let me know?!!?!? 😤😡🤬😤😡🤯I WAS IRATE. LIVID. SEETHING. I invented a whole new rainbow with the colorful things that were popping into my head about the ancient need for USB drives to submit things and the idiocy of the city of Salt Lake… · So long story short. I allowed myself to feel angry. Its ok to feel anything and everything that you feel. You don’t have to be happy and positive ALL the TIME! Generally its not productive to sit in anger, but to get through it, sometimes its best to allow yourself to have the feelings that you have… its ok to have them.
