I don’t consider myself a “lettering person” or a “letterer.” I never set out to be a part of the “lettering community” (which for the record, is a marvelous community!!!) I am an artist. A designer. I use letters as tools. They are nothing but shapes that help me tell my story. They help me get my point across. They help me express my feelings... I don’t care if the pitch is right, or the ligatures are correct. I don’t study the History of typefaces to make sure the era is correct on my letterforms. I don’t care if my cursive is calligraphic or my caps confident. I care about you. Me. People. Feelings. Love. Individuality. Freedom to be who we want to be. I care about making others feel safe. I care about welcoming strangers. I care about the underdog. I care about sharing the love that I have for myself, and for the world. And letters enable me to do it. So I love letters. I love them for enabling me to love you. 💖💜💙🖤 This design was made with the 3D font called VERSA, developed by the legendary and talented @jamesllewis, who invited me to use this font in a design during its development. James is a forefather of the lettering community and so it was an honor to be called on by him to participate in the project. The font is amazing.
